NAIBA Holiday Catalog

I have great news. NAIBA has joined with two others – NEIBA and GLiBA – to produce our holiday catalog this year.

For booksellers, you will hardly notice the difference – you’ll still get a beautifully produced catalog with titles specifically selected for our region, titles you’ll love to recommend to your customers. Click here for general information; or click here for an informational pdf and catalog order form.

For publishers, we’ve come up with a plan that makes it easier, faster, and cheaper, and offers very focused marketing. You’ll be able to work with one sales executive, one designer, one printer. You’ll be able to insert an ad in all three catalogs at once or pick and choose which ad goes where. And you’ll earn discounts by placing ads in multiple catalogs. Click here for more information, and click here for the 2010 rate card and contract.

We continue to work with Suzanne G. Shoger as our project coordinator and sales executive. ProMotion, Inc., will handle design and printing. Since 1999, Suzanne has produced over 20 regional holiday catalogs – for GLiBA, NAIBA, SCIBA, and PNBA. Promotion, Inc., is the publisher of BookPage, the monthly book review for consumers distributed to more than 440,000 readers through bookstores and public libraries throughout the country. Shoger and ProMotion have produced the NAIBA Holiday Catalog since 2000.

A note from Carl Lennertz at HarperCollins:
Dear publishing friends,
I know we are all struggling with tight budgets, but I can offer some data I just found to support that the regional holiday catalogs work.

Using Bookscan, I isolated a few books and found a definite effect on sales. There's also of plenty of anecdotal evidence to show that initial orders double or triple when a rep says a book is in the catalog.

The regional association execs have also done a great job getting stores to do prominent displays and to order up in the fall.

These marketing vehicles are THE holiday tool for everyone from Tattered Cover and Powells' to hundreds of small indies whose combined sales in rural markets constitute a top 5 Bookscan market all by themselves.

Email me if you'd like more info, but I hope you'll support the catalogs best you can. It's important to your books and authors, to the bookstores, and to the associations who put on shows that will be more important than ever to all of us this fall.

Best,
Carl@harpercollins.com
